Structural pain in pregnancy
During pregnancy your body is rapidly changing.
The most notable of this being the muscles and ligament stretching, especially around your pelvis to make room for your baby. The added weight on your body causes your centre of gravity to shift and changes your posture.
Your body is also undergoing changes to help prepare for birth. Your joints will begin to loosen to help with that all-important arrival.
While all of these changes are amazing things for your body to be doing, they can also cause a lot of issues. Especially on your body's skeletal structure. Over half of pregnant women complain of back pain during their pregnancy. This however, is not the only structural issue that can occur, it can also present as:
- foot pain
- neck pain
- muscle cramps
- nerve compression
- additional pressure on joints, leading to pain
